Fashion Camp:
Drafting the Basic Slopers
Weekend Immersion: Drafting Basic Slopers
Sat & Sun, Feb 28–March 1 | 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
Sat & Sun, Aug 22 - 23 | 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
Curious what fashion design school is really like? This two-day immersion offers a true introduction to professional pattern drafting, starting exactly where every fashion line begins: the basic sloper.
Over the weekend, you’ll work with professional dress forms to draft both a bodice sloper and a skirt sloper using industry methods. From there, we’ll transform the basic sloper into a princess sloper and use it to develop a simple design—giving you a clear picture of how flat patterns evolve into garments.
If time allows, we’ll also demonstrate grading the basic block into a size range (this is not custom fitting, but grading as used in ready-to-wear fashion).
This class is ideal for students who want to:
-
Understand how slopers are used in fashion design and patternmaking
-
Experience the structure and pace of a fashion design college environment
-
Build a strong foundation in professional drafting techniques
This is a learning-focused drafting experience, not a custom-fit pattern class. You’ll leave with a solid understanding of how slopers function as the backbone of a fashion collection.
New workshops are in the works to follow up with the basic slopers immersive:
we will be adding these weekend immersions later in the year if there is enough interest: please let us know your interest.
