Come and expand your fashion sewing creativity at Camp Sew Social!

Our headquarters are in beautiful Lake Norman, North Carolina just north of Charlotte in the small (big) town of Mooresville. Home of Future Fashion Designers. FFD has been in the historic downtown area for over 12 years.
​
We have changed our venue from the log cabin to the Hilton Garden Inn. Shawnelle has been friends with this hotel location for over 10 years and we are sure to be treated like VIPs!
​
This hotel has lots of light and comfy lounge places. A special party room for our paint night, a fire pit area for our cocktail hours and cozy lounge area for our Fashion Pictionary night.
Camp Sew Social was started 4 years ago "Because Adults want to Camp too!"
We have a unique retreat so you can give yourself time to sew. Doing the creative things that engage your soul.
Sewing with others who share your love for sewing is energizing and fuels your sewing mojo :)

Shawnelle is our main teacher, she comes from the couture eveningwear market. She has made gowns for the Hollywood crowd for the Oscars, Emmys, Golden Globes... She has had a long career as a Costume Designer for feature films, designing over 30 films to date and is still involve in and a long time member of the Costume Designers Guild In Los Angeles. Her favorite film projects are comedy's for the creative opportunities they giver her.

You will be learning new techniques and taking your sewing skills to the next level.
​
We will be focusing on Fabrics in our workshops and throughout the day we learn about fabric types and how to sew on them. , how to alter patterns for a better fit, and how to "see" the fit issues and then how to fix them.
​
By the end of your retreat you will be thinking more creatively and seeing fit differently.
​
Once you get your hands into some creation you will always remember it and think of ideas quickly, expanding your file inspiration box!
Our mission is to get you into the mess of creation, so wear your play clothes!

Our camp is for Intermediate levels, you can bring your own projects or let us know if you would like to make creative skirts, if so we have a project for you!

Camp Sew Social - In a Word - WOW!! This sewing retreat was top-notch in every way. The venue - an awesome modern log cabin -style home with 180-degree panoramic views of Lake Norman and killer sunrises. Rooms were spacious and nicely appointed. So much to do - so little time. Actually, just the right amount of time. Nearly 4 full days of sewing and social activities. Clearly this was not Shawnelle and Mike’s (affectionately referred to as Tim Fun) first rodeo. Think Ina Garten and Emeril Lagasse. What a fun pair. Their attention to detail in the menus and activities was spot on, from Asian Taco night, Jamaican Chicken night to Killer Shrimp night, no detail was missed. Designing our skirts was the focus of the weekend and so much more. Fashion painting night, cruising Lake Norman’s shores, Smoretinis, Margaritas, Moscow Mules…an endless array of options. This entire fashion sewing retreat was so memorable and the camaraderie was amazing. Can’t wait to see what they have in store next time. I give this retreat 2 big thumbs up – and 5 Stars.

Join us for a fun-filled sewing experience with others who share your passion!
Explore different textiles in our daily fabric workshop and deepen your knowledge about fabrics. You’ll also pick up new techniques to enhance your skills and gain the confidence to try new things.
And for some added laughter, don’t miss our fashion paint nights, fashion-themed Pictionary, and lively happy hours—perfect for connecting with fellow sewing enthusiasts!

Shawnelle has a tremendous amount of sewing and fashion design knowledge to teach, and I learned so much in this one-of-a-kind retreat! The lakefront accommodation was unique, beautiful, and very comfortable. Every night was a different themed dinner, delicious and so much fun. Chef Tim Funn – 5 stars! So nice to watch the other campers unleash their sewing creativity...and to relax in between sewing sessions with yoga, melt, paddleboarding, painting, and Lake Norman boat ride. Camp Sew Social exceeded my expectations...thank you Shawnelle and Mike...awesome job!

This sewing retreat was fabulous! The accommodations were stunning, the food and drinks were delish and plentiful, and the extra's (yoga, paddle boarding, boat ride, painting, melting) were also tons of fun. Shanelle had a huge, separate sewing room all set up that was equipped with sewing machines, cutting tables, fabrics, patterns, etc. I learned so much and laughed a lot - I highly recommend!!
